How it all started…

The people, culture, and spirit of Morocco are the inspiration behind Mushmina!

In the summer of 2004 I traveled to meet my sister in her new Peace Corps home in Boujad, Morocco. A beautiful, somewhat hectic, and strangely entertaining three hour bus ride from Casablanca. This is the beginning of what would eventually become the vision behind Mushmina.

Heather had already been working for a year with women carpet weavers in Boujad when I arrived. Her goal was to help increase the sales of their carpets by introducing new techniques and updated design ideas to this ancient craft. With a shared interest in craft and culture my sister and I collaborated with the women on a workshop.
