Happy May! Some Mushmina highlights from April

Happy May! What is Mushmina up to?

We wanted to share a highlight from this past month in Morocco.

In April, Clare Shukan a wonderful woman who happens to be the wife of the US Consul General of Casablanca, came to visit the ladies at the Flying Camel Workshop. Clare spent the afternoon with us teaching the ladies the art of patchwork. Clare learned the skill from her mother and makes beautiful pillows and blankets on her sewing machine at home. She uses gorgeous fabrics from Ghana were she and her family were previously posted.

How appropriate! We have bins full of Mushmina scrap fabrics to use. 5 years worth in fact! The ladies loved learning something new and it got them thinking about how they can recycle fabric scraps and make beautiful things.

Thanks so much Clare for your visit to Oued Zem. We love visitors!
